Learn the basic processes of Earth's atmosphere for your first steps into the applied science field of atmospheric science. Plus, you will get to build your own simple model of the atmosphere!
This course introduces the physical processes of the Earth's atmosphere. The modules consist of the coordinate and changing state of the atmosphere, its optical properties, structure, and composition. You will also get to apply this knowledge in a simple atmospheric model. Atmospheric science is an applied science field and thus, you are required to have basic knowledge on, high school level mathematics, physics, chemistry, computational thinking or coding, and the language R (as an added bonus). The material used in this MOOC is extracted from a three-credit course of an Environmental Science Master's program in Universiti Sains Malaysia entitled "IEA501/3 Atmospheric Science and Air Quality".
What You Will Learn
At the end of the course, you will be able to apply basic physical principles of the atmosphere on a simple atmospheric model.
To impart basic knowledge and skills in atmospheric science so that students can model atmospheric processes through a simple model.
I teach at the School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia under the Environmental Technology program. I am currently conducting.
